Objective and Mission of Founding an Orchestra

Orchestra lets students show their potentials and share the fun of music. The research of sociologists and psychologists reveal that training from orchestra can help the youngsters grow healthily, both physical and psychological:

  1. Systematic music training can help develop wisdom and potential; 
  2. Public performance gives satisfaction; 
  3. Solo performance can help build up independence and confidence; 
  4. Group training and the learning of discipline can foster team spirit; 
  5. Taking up the responsibility of a particular role in orchestra can build up sense of responsibility;

Devise budget, purchasing ways and maintenance scheme for purchasing instruments. Affordable students should be encouraged to buy their own instruments because it can release the expenses of schools and organizations as well as giving more practice opportunities for students.

3. Venue for Rehearsal

Consider the sound effect of venue, the impact to the outside world from rehearsal, and time management for practice.

4. Structure of Orchestra

Arrange members' position and duties; invite tutors and orchestra conductor, etc.

5. Training Scheme

It includes the supervision of orchestra, training, performance and competition, etc, and the development of orchestra.

6. Recruitment of Members

An orchestra has greater chance of success if it has more applicants because it is easier to find out the best for training from a larger number of members. Promotion and advertising become very important before the recruitment of members. In order to arouse the interest of students and members of social organizations in learning music and participating in performance, orchestra should provide more chances for them to appreciate various ensemble performance or recording. The support from parents is also very important.
