The José Ramírez guitar workshop was established in 1882 by the founder of the family of guitar makers. It is the oldest workshop dedicated to the art of building Spanish guitars. The knowledge and skills of the Ramírez tradition have been passed through the generations, right up to the present day. Ramírez guitars have now been produced by five generations of the family.

Luis Regidor
2nd prize winner in the “Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition” at the 2011 Montreux Jazz Festival and finalist at the 2012 edition, both times with a jury presided by Quincy Jones. He was born in Cáceres (Spain) in 1985 and started playing guitar at the age of 7, under the guidance of his father. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in classical guitar at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Rafael Orozco in Córdoba (Spain). Afterwards he proceeded to achieve his Master’s in music performance with Ricardo Gallén at the Universidad de Extremadura. In 2011 he finished his studies in Musical Pedagogy at the Universidad de Extremadura (Spain).

In 2013 he earned a Master’s degree in classical guitar at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf (Germany) as part of Joaquín Clerch’s class, while also receiving parallel lessons in Ancient Music with Anthony Spiri and Orchestral Conducting with Rüdiger Bonn.

In 2014 he received a Master’s in Contemporary Performance (for Voice) from the prestigious Berklee College of Music at its campus in Spain: Berklee Valencia. There, Luis received lessons and performed with Javier Limón, Victor Mendoza, Celia Mur, Perico Sambeat, Alain Pérez, Steven Webber, and attended masterclasses by John Blackwell, Miguel Zenón, Danilo Perez, Henry Cole, John Mulholand, Patrice Rushen, etc. He had the honor of singing at the Berklee Honorary Doctorate ceremony for the legendary tenor Plácido Domingo.

In addition, he has attended master classes with Nikoloaus Harnoncourt, Leo Brouwer, Kazuhito Yamashita, Eliot Fisk, David Martínez, Julio Gimeno, Carles Trepat, Antonio Duro, Marco Socías, Hopkinson Smith, Paul O’dette, Roberto Ausell, Aniello Desiderio, Juan Francisco Padilla, Pepe Romero, Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Carlos Mena, Carles Benavent, Marcus Miller, Jorge Pardo, Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, Scott Henderson, and John Scofield.

As a classical guitarist, he won among others, the 2nd prize at the competition of the prestigious Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba, and the 3rd Prize at the “Schmolz- Bickenbach Competition” (chamber music) in Germany.

He has performed concerts both as a vocalist and as classical guitarist (solo, chamber music and with orchestra) in a number of countries in Europe, as well as Morocco, the USA, Cuba and Ecuador.

The past 2016-2017 academic year he was Jazz Voice Professor at the Berklee CoM, Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). Actually he lives in Madrid (Spain).
