APPASSIONATA – HOMAGE TO A LEGEND
The musical world honors one of its most outstanding composers this year: Ludwig van Beethoven. Steinway & Sons joins the celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday with the release of an equally exceptional instrument: the APPASSIONATA grand piano. As an homage to the composer and his everlasting work, excerpts from Appassionata (Beethoven’s world-famous piano sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57.) adorn the inner side of the lid and the housing of this grand piano – the so-called rim. The Appassionata is considered to be the high point of Beethoven’s work.
The APPASSIONATA is a limited edition of only 10 hand-crafted copies of the model B-211 – manufactured by Steinway & Sons and equipped with Spirio, the innovative high-resolution self-playing system. This grand piano enables users to play by themselves or to enjoy performances by well-known Steinway Artists as if they were played live. Each Spirio grand piano offers an extensive music library with thousands of tracks from all genres that is extended monthly. The APPASSIONATA grand piano will be on display in our showrooms throughout Germany and is available to be tried out by interested parties. For every purchase, we will be donating 10,000 Euros to the emergency relief fund of the “Deutsche Orchesterstiftung” that benefits self-employed musicians in Germany.
