Pre-Trumpet — A First Trumpet for Children

Trova is a unique wind instrument featuring branched pipe technology that allows children to learn and enjoy the basics of brass instrument playing at an early age.

Trova is lightweight, durable, and uses the same lip-reed principle as a standard trumpet to produce natural-harmonic notes. There are no valves and therefore no fingerings to learn, so the young player can dive right in and start having musical fun.

Realistic Brass Instrument Sound

The branched pipe system produces conical-bore characteristics in an instrument with a cylindrical bore.

Two branched pipes make it possible to play the natural-harmonic note series of an actual trumpet.

Durability

The use of cylindrical tubing throughout the instrument allows thicker tube walls for extra durability.

Standard trumpet wall thickness: approx. 0.5 mm

Trova wall thickness: approx. 1.0 mm

Lightweight

Aluminum tubing dramatically reduces overall weight.

Standard trumpet weight: approx. 1,100 grams

Trova weight: Approx. 180 grams

Easy to Play and Maintain

Trova has no valves and no fingerings to learn, so children can start playing and experiencing the enjoyment of brass instruments right away.
Note: Trova is a lip-reed instrument played by vibrating the lips against the mouthpiece, just like standard trumpets, trombones, etc.　
Cylindrical tubing can be wrapped to create a compact, easily manageable body.
In playing position, the instrument’s center of gravity is close to the player, so it is easy for children to hold.
Trova is not as loud as a standard brass instrument and can therefore be played in a wide range of environments and situations.
Note: Volume can be reduced even more by removing the bell.
Simple structure allows the instrument’s interior to be washed out with running water.

The upper score shows the actual pitches as written for piano, while the lower score shows the same notes transposed for Trova (a B♭ instrument).
