THE PERFECT LOVE WITH STEINWAY
In the history of STEINWAY & SONS, Steinway pianos have witnessed countless of beautiful love stories. The STEINWAY sound is full of love and happiness. The sound of the STEINWAY piano is one of power, warmth, richness and colour. These are the result of many exclusive features of a Steinway piano, including their patented Diaphragmatic Soundboard.
STEINWAY & SONS was founded in 1853 by German immigrant Henry Engelhard Steinway in a Manhattan loft on Varick Street. Success needs courage – and passion. Both of these qualities were demonstrated by HENRY E. STEINWAY, the company founder. As a musician and experienced instrument builder, he built his first piano in 1825. This instrument was built secretly in his kitchen and was a wedding present to his new wife, Juliane Thiemer. It was the first time he acted upon his vision of building the best piano possible, laying the foundation for the Steinway & Sons piano.
Legendary musician John Lennon presented a white Steinway grand piano to his wife, Yoko Ono, on her birthday in 1971. He also wrote his famous work "Imagine" on this piano.
In September 1947, world-renowned Chinese scientist Hsue-shen Tsien selected a Steinway grand piano as a wedding gift for his wife, Jiang Ying.
In 2019, Steinway also witnessed the beautiful love between international pianist and Steinway artist Lang Lang and German pianist and Steinway artist Gina Alice.
Steinway is more than just a piano, but an object of love and heritage.
