Yamaha's flagship euphonium has reached a new evolutionary milestone. Developed in collaboration with developing artist Kyohei Ando, every detail of its design has been meticulously reevaluated to achieve both a vivid, soloistic resonance and a seamless blend in ensemble settings. Incorporating all-brass slides and lightweight valve caps delivers a more colorful sound with exceptional response—further empowering the artist’s expression. The new YEP-843 euphonium comes closer than ever to my ideals both in terms of functionality and the way it brings my musical dreams to life. Main Tuning Slide Trigger System
Equipped with a main tuning slide trigger system, this instrument delivers precise pitch control while adding weight and depth to the tone. Pressing the lever plate during performance pushes the main tuning slide downward to lower the pitch. Releasing the lever plate returns the main tuning slide to its original position. For general tuning prior to playing, loosen the rod base screw, adjust the main tuning slide to the desired pitch, and then tighten the screw to lock the trigger rod in place.

Adjustable Trigger System
Designed with player convenience as a top priority, the lever plate position, angle, and stroke range can all be customized.
- Lever Plate Position & Angle Adjustment: Use the provided hex wrench to loosen the screw and adjust the lever plate height and angle to the position that best suits the player’s
- Lever Plate Stroke Range Adjustment: Use a commercial flathead screwdriver to turn the adjustment screw and modify the lever plate stroke range. The stroke range of the thumb plate is interlocked with that of the main tuning slide.
Main Tuning Slide Position Adjustment for Trigger
By extending the length of the trigger rod compared to conventional models, the adjustment range when securing the trigger rod has been expanded, making it easier to set the main tuning slide to the optimal position.
Additionally, an added trigger stopper establishes an upper limit for the travel range, preventing the main tuning slide from detaching.
Cover for main tuning slide trigger
It is equipped with a metal cover that prevents the main tuning slide from touching the player's body during performance and helps keep oil off their clothing. The position can be adjusted to your preference by loosening the mounting screws.
All-Brass Slides
By utilizing brass for the inner slide tubes, the instrument achieves a grounded, warm resonance that facilitates delicate and subtle expressions, producing a much richer tonal palette.
Furthermore, applying a silver-plated finish to all slides except the main tuning slide softens the sound's outline, allowing it to blend even more effortlessly with other instruments.
Lightweight Valve Caps
To refine the instrument's overall tonal balance, the valve caps have been lightened compared to conventional heavy caps. This significantly improves note response and allows for far greater freedom in nuanced phrasing, such as legatos.

Bottom bow reinforcement plate
A large reinforcement plate for the bottom bow notably expands the instrument’s dynamic range.
